Several publications were printed each year. The Travel Planner was aimed at tourists to help them explore all areas of Alberta from short days trips to longer adventures in the backcountry.
The Summer and WInter magazines help their travel partners promote themselves through advertising, package offers and advertorials. The third sample is from the Partner Buy-In Guide used to sell a wide range of advertising opportunities to hotels, tour groups, events, etc.
With these projects I worked on design, image searching and layout, with later issues having me overseeing final work done in the Studio.

The challenge was to increase awareness and the benefits of concrete. Visually striking images and positive facts were used to drive the public to their new website to learn more about concrete's strength, durability, versatility and environmental benefits.

With Venture CEO Arlene Dickinson's connection to Dragon's Den, Scotiabank requested a campaign to promote the bank's small business owner services. Venture developed the new “Business is Personal” creative strategy from which all the media executions were built upon.
Phase 1 introduced the Arlene connection with the bank, along with a competition including time with her.
For Phase 2, personas were created for each stage of an entrepreneur’s business (‘The Planner’, ‘The Starter’, and ‘The Grower’).
Phase 3 focused on the new $6 Small Business Account launch.
My role came in right after the strategy was approved. Image searching, design and layout both print and digital, liaison with photo retoucher, and working on elements for the website.

The mandate was to help the public understand the relationship between our daily lives and the tight link to oil as a necessary product. This campaign was divided into four approaches. Here I've shown three of the four: Duality, Drilling and More2theStory. Some of the campaigns focused more on print, while others mainly utilized digital.
I worked with Jon and then later Sara on the various phases to help design, image searching/retouching and build print and digital pieces.
Also, any print work outside of the campaign, such as tradeshow booths, publications and powerpoint templates, often came directly to me to design.

The CIBC annual report is comprised of a front section that contains a summary of the year. This is more magazine-like. The majority of the annual report is the financial section containing very detailed information within charts, tables and body copy. With a small group, some very long, intense hours, lots of caffeine and great team work, the annual report was produced over the course of a month.

ENMAX approached Venture to help them raise both customer and employee satisfaction levels, while adding new subscribers. The concept “We’re on” to resonate with staff and “We’re on for you” for the customer audience was created. This work led to a major improvement in ENMAX brand perceptions: their customer satisfaction index reached an astounding 81% while adding 110,000 new subscribers in two years, a 14% increase. For this client I worked directly with the creative director and CCO to develop the new brand for ENMAX. This included the brand guidelines and all print, signage and tradeshow pieces used to set their new look.

Direct Antidote, now known as Squareknot, is the in-house agency for AIR MILES. Due to the scale of many of the campaigns, often the initial look was created by an art director and then all else was rolled out by a designer to all forms of media.
In some cases the initial creative was started in studio.
For large projects such as the "Quarterly Update" for members, I would not only be in charge of design, layout and final production of over 200+ pieces, French and English, but I'd manage the several freelancers temporarily brought in.

I have been designing and producing the Finnish Credit Union of Toronto's (Osuuspankki) "Year in Review" for since 2009 to this current year. It's a 16-20 page booklet giving an annual report style overview for the credit union's members. One of the challenges with the design is dealing with the bilingual sections set in two languages (Finnish and English).

The client came to me with one great illustration and a single photo and asked if I could create a CD and insert for his musical project "Mass Panic". It's always fun to see what you can come up with when given tight limitations.
